The Government of India has officially appointed Mr. Amit Mohan Mittal, a 2008-batch Indian Revenue Service (Income Tax) officer, as the Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) in Mumbai. The appointment, approved by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on December 19, 2025, is for an initial tenure of three years. Mr. Mittal will operate at Pay Level 13 and will be responsible for overseeing all vigilance, compliance, and integrity-related functions for the nation’s apex maritime regulator under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.
