In a major administrative shake-up on December 24, 2025, the Government of Assam transferred 14 IAS and state civil service officers, including several District Commissioners (DCs). The reshuffle, occurring just months before the state assembly elections scheduled for early 2026, is seen as a strategic realignment to ensure administrative efficiency. Notably, Aranyak Saikia (2020 batch) has been appointed as the new DC of Karbi Anglong, while several other districts, including Kamrup (Metro), Cachar, and Tinsukia, saw a rotation of their top administrators.
