The Government of Tamil Nadu has officially promoted seven senior IAS officers from the 1995 batch to the Chief Secretary Grade, effective January 1, 2026. This elevation, approved by the Governor and issued through the Public Department on December 24, 2025, marks the transition of these officers into the highest pay matrix (Level 17). The group includes several high-profile bureaucrats currently leading critical portfolios, including the Finance Department and Chennai Metro Rail. This move is part of a wider administrative restructuring ahead of the new calendar year.
