In a significant administrative transition at the start of the year, Dr. K.L.N. Rao, a senior 1992-batch IPS officer of the Gujarat cadre, has been appointed as the In-charge Director General of Police (DGP) of Gujarat. Dr. Rao, who was previously serving as the Director General of Prisons, takes over the state’s top police post following the retirement or transition of the previous incumbent. His appointment ensures administrative continuity as the state government initiates the process for a regular DGP appointment through the UPSC empanelment procedure.
