Anupama Nilekar Chandra, a distinguished 1994-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Bihar cadre, has been appointed as the Director General (Investigation) in the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). Prior to this high-profile central assignment, she was serving as the Special Director General of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). In her new role at the NHRC, she will lead the investigation wing, which is responsible for inquiring into complaints of human rights violations across the country, ensuring accountability and justice.
