In a significant constitutional appointment, Mr. Amitabh Jain, a retired IAS officer of the 1989 batch (Chhattisgarh cadre), has been appointed as the Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) of Chhattisgarh. Mr. Jain, who previously served as the Chief Secretary of the state, brings extensive administrative experience to the State Information Commission. His appointment follows a high-level committee meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, aimed at filling the top vacancy in the state’s transparency watchdog. He will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Right to Information (RTI) Act and presiding over appeals and complaints regarding the disclosure of public information.
