In a significant expansion of the state’s transparency mechanism, Mr. Umesh Kumar Agarwal, a retired IAS officer (2004 batch, Chhattisgarh cadre), has been appointed as a State Information Commissioner (SIC) in the Chhattisgarh State Information Commission. This appointment follows the recent naming of Amitabh Jain as the Chief Information Commissioner. Mr. Agarwal, known for his administrative experience in departments such as Revenue and Home, joins the Commission as part of a strategic move to clear the backlog of RTI appeals and strengthen the public’s right to access government information.
