The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has promoted 18 officers of the Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Indirect Taxes) to the grade of Commissioner of Customs & Indirect Taxes for the panel year 2026. In a strategic move to ensure administrative continuity, the promoted officers have been directed to assume their new charges on an “in-situ” (as is where is) basis. This means they will continue to serve in their current locations and roles while holding the elevated rank of Commissioner, allowing the department to maintain operational stability during the transition phase of the 2026-27 fiscal cycle.
