LOS ANGELES: Specialized apparel giant Gap Inc. has appointed entertainment industry veteran Lourdes Arocho as its new Senior Vice President and Head of Licensing.
Arocho assumed her new role on May 15, operating out of the company’s Los Angeles hub. She reports directly to Pam Kaufman, Executive Vice President and Chief Entertainment Officer at Gap Inc.
Driving the “Fashiontainment” Ecosystem
Arocho’s appointment is a strategic move to accelerate Gap Inc.’s ambitious “Fashiontainment” platform. In her new role, she will spearhead both inbound and outbound brand licensing strategies across the company’s core retail portfolio, including:
-
Old Navy
-
Gap
-
Banana Republic
-
Athleta
The strategy aims to bridge the gap between traditional retail and pop culture, transforming physical stores into cultural hubs by collaborating with premier production studios, creators, and sports leagues.
An Elite Portfolio in Franchise Management
Arocho transitions to the retail sector from Paramount Global, where she served as Senior Vice President of Global Consumer Products and Franchise Management. Her extensive background in turning intellectual properties into highly profitable retail franchises includes executive stints at:
-
Paramount Global: Led monetization strategies for premier intellectual properties including Top Gun: Maverick, Yellowstone, SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and PAW Patrol.
-
Nickelodeon & NBCUniversal: Spearheaded global product licensing, media tie-ins, and strategic direct-to-retail partnerships.
Commenting on the appointment, Pam Kaufman noted that licensing remains a core growth driver to keep Gap Inc.’s brands relevant in modern pop culture, calling Arocho’s background the perfect mix of “art and science” required to unlock fresh revenue streams.
