The 2026 Mandate
The NDA secured a powerful victory in the recent assembly polls, winning 102 out of 126 seats. The BJP alone secured 82 seats, while its allies—the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF)—each contributed 10 seats to the landslide win.
This will be Himanta Biswa Sarma’s second term as Chief Minister, following his unanimous election as the leader of the NDA legislative party.
