SAN FRANCISCO — Meta-owned social media platform Instagram has rolled out a major update to its visual brand identity, introducing a redesigned wordmark for the first time in nearly ten years while keeping its iconic app icon unchanged.
Unveiled by Instagram head Adam Mosseri, the new typography transitions away from the script-style lettering adopted in 2016. The updated hybrid wordmark blends conventional, clean typography with subtle cursive accents, featuring pronounced curves on the letters “s,” “r,” and “g” to honor the platform’s original visual lineage.
While the new wordmark is now live within the app interface, marketing campaigns, and brand materials, the recognizable pink, orange, and purple gradient camera icon on users’ home screens remains untouched.
