MUMBAI: In a major leadership reshuffle, Reliance Retail has appointed Sandeep Karwa as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of its online fashion platform Ajio, fast-fashion brand Shein India, and its broader digital fashion and lifestyle portfolio.
He succeeds Vineeth Nair, who has steered Ajio for nearly a decade. Nair will transition into a more expansive, macro-level role overseeing the entirety of Reliance Retail’s brick-and-mortar and online fashion and lifestyle business ecosystem.

Strategic Context
The appointment comes at a critical juncture as Reliance Retail aggressively scales its digital footprint to counter competitors like Tata Cliq, Myntra, and newly emerging fast-fashion platforms. Karwa’s immediate mandate will include optimizing Ajio’s tech-driven retail channels and spearheading the operational launch and market positioning of global fast-fashion giant Shein in India under the Reliance franchise.
