LONDON — Renowned advertising duo Rob Doubal and Laurence “Lolly” Thomson have officially stepped down from their joint roles as Global Chief Creative Officers at M&C Saatchi.
The creative partners confirmed their departures via separate announcements on LinkedIn, concluding a high-profile two-year leadership tenure aimed at unifying the network’s global creative footprint.
A Two-Year Legacy of Landmark Wins
Affectionately known across the industry as “Rob and Lolly,” the duo joined M&C Saatchi with a mandate to streamline the agency’s multi-disciplinary capabilities around a central philosophy of “Cultural Power.”
Reflecting on their exit, the pair highlighted several major milestones achieved during their short but impactful run:
-
Super Bowl Debut: Guided the network’s US operations to deliver the agency group’s first-ever Super Bowl commercial.
-
Historical Cannes Win: Secured M&C Saatchi Sports & Entertainment’s first-ever victory at the prestigious Cannes Lions.
-
New Business Resurgence: Revitalized the agency’s domestic standing, pushing M&C Saatchi UK back into the industry’s top 10 new business rankings.
A Decorated Twenty-Year Creative Partnership
Doubal and Thomson first established their creative alliance back in 2006, building a reputation as one of the UK ad landscape’s most reliable and avant-garde leadership teams.
Before taking the global creative reins at M&C Saatchi, they spent a highly decorated decade at McCann, joining McCann London in 2012 before climbing the ranks to serve as Joint Chief Creative Officers for McCann UK and Co-Presidents of McCann London. Their careers also include highly regarded creative stints at other premier agencies, including Mother London and Wieden+Kennedy.
M&C Saatchi has yet to name their immediate successors, as the network continues its broader structural evolution under its current executive leadership. Both Doubal and Thomson indicated they are preparing for their next professional chapter following an incredibly productive period at the agency.
