NEW DELHI — Rohan Mitra, a veteran public policy strategist, has announced his departure from Adobe India after anchoring the technology major’s government relations and public sector portfolio for over ten years.
Mitra shared the leadership transition through a professional update on LinkedIn, concluding an influential decade-long tenure that shaped Adobe’s regulatory footprint and public sector business deployment in the region.
Steering Tech Advocacy Through India’s Regulatory Evolution
During his decade at the helm of Government Relations, Mitra served as the primary bridge between Adobe’s global corporate objectives and India’s complex federal and state administrative ecosystems. His tenure coincided with an era of rapid digital transformation and intense regulatory overhaul within the Indian tech sector.
His core portfolio covered several high-stakes regulatory and commercial domains:
-
Emerging Tech & AI Governance: Mitra actively led Adobe’s policy interventions around generative artificial intelligence, machine learning ethics, and Content Credentials—Adobe’s open-source framework for digital content provenance and combating deepfakes.
-
Data and Cybersecurity Architecture: He managed the company’s compliance positioning and regulatory advocacy during the formulation and rollout of India’s major data protection laws, including privacy frameworks and cybersecurity mandates.
-
Public Sector Business Development: Beyond defensive regulatory advocacy, Mitra structurally supported Adobe’s enterprise growth by aligning the company’s cloud, creative, and document software suites with large-scale central and state government e-governance projects.
A Look Ahead at Policy Leadership Shifts
Reflecting on his departure, Mitra expressed gratitude for his long-standing collaboration with industry peers and policy circles, noting that he is closing an “incredible chapter” and looking forward to upcoming professional challenges.
“After more than a decade leading Government Relations for Adobe in India, I’m closing an incredible chapter,” Mitra shared. “I’ve had the privilege of working with, and learning from, some of the most talented colleagues… I’m walking away full of memories, and excited for what’s next.”
Mitra, a specialist across public policy, international relations, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and corporate communications, has not yet disclosed his next corporate destination. His exit creates a notable vacancy at the top tier of India’s technology advocacy circle at a time when data sovereignty and AI regulations continue to dominate the legislative agenda.
