BENGALURU: In a major leadership shakeup ahead of its massive corporate consolidation, Unacademy Co-Founder and Test-Prep CEO Sumit Jain has announced his decision to step down from his full-time operational role.
Jain, who has steered the edtech unicorn’s core test-preparation vertical since 2020, shared the news via a social media post. According to industry reports, his final working day in an operational capacity will be June 30, 2026.
Shifting to an Advisory Role
While Jain is exiting his day-to-day executive responsibilities, he is not severing ties with the company entirely. He is expected to transition into an advisory role, helping steady the ship as Unacademy navigates its highly anticipated, high-stakes merger with rival edtech giant upGrad.
Jain’s exit from the operational frontlines marks the end of a crucial chapter for Unacademy’s foundational test-prep business, which expanded significantly under his four-year watch.
