The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has formally approved a one-year service extension for the country’s top bureaucrat, Cabinet Secretary Dr. T.V. Somanathan, IAS (TN:87).
An official order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) confirms that Dr. Somanathan will remain in office for a further period of one year beyond August 30, 2026.
The notification (No. 36/01/2026-EO(SM-I)), issued on August 5, 2026, was authenticated by Manisha Saxena, Secretary to the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet and Establishment Officer.
