NEW DELHI: In a significant move to retain top-tier leadership within the central security forces, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved a one-year deputation extension for two senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers serving in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
Both officers are currently deployed at the rank of Inspector General (IG) within the paramilitary force. In a rare administrative move, the ACC cleared the proposal to extend their central tenures by overriding standard timeline constraints, explicitly implementing the decision “in relaxation of the IPS Tenure Policy.”
Profile of the Retained Officers
The two high-profile bureaucrats, both hailing from the Karnataka state cadre, have been granted an additional twelve months in their central roles:
-
Sonia Narang, IPS (Karnataka Cadre, 2002 Batch): Currently serving as Inspector General, she carries a distinguished track record across various high-profile policing and administrative portfolios.
-
Abhishek Goyal, IPS (Karnataka Cadre, 2005 Batch): Also functioning in the capacity of Inspector General, he is recognized for his extensive operational experience.
