Senior bureaucrat Alka Nangia Arora has officially taken charge as the Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA), assuming office on August 1, 2026.
An officer of the 1991 batch of the Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS), Arora steps into the top administrative role responsible for heading the Defence Accounts Department (DAD). In her new capacity as CGDA, she will oversee financial management, audit, accounting, and payment functions across the Armed Forces, defense public sector undertakings (DPSUs), and associated defense research and development wings.
