Mr. B. Sairam, who is currently serving as the Chairman-cum-Managing Director ($\text{CMD}$) of Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), has been appointed as the new Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of Coal India Limited (CIL), the public sector undertaking and world’s largest coal producer; his tenure in this apex leadership role is effective until his date of superannuation on March 31, 2028.
