CHANDIGARH: Asserting a flawless track record in public recruitment transparency, Punjab Chief Minister Shri Bhagwant Mann distributed job appointment letters to 355 newly recruited personnel across various state government departments.
Speaking at the state-level induction ceremony, Chief Minister Mann drew a sharp contrast between Punjab’s recruitment security and the wider national landscape, revealing that Punjab has not registered a single competitive exam paper leak since his administration assumed office in 2022.
Punjab Recruitment & Education Matrix
Event: Induction Ceremony for 355 Government Personnel
Total Merit Appointments (Since 2022): 67,037 permanent government jobs
Key Governance Milestone: Zero recruitment paper leaks recorded in Punjab since 2022.
Education Infrastructure: Establishment of 118 high-tech ‘Schools of Eminence’.
Global Faculty Training: Principal and teacher exposure programs in Singapore, IIM Ahmedabad, and Finland.
A Contrast in Exam Integrity and Youth Merit
The Chief Minister strongly criticized national testing standards, specifically referencing the recent cancellation of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) held on May 3 due to suspected leaks and widespread irregularities.
“The Central government could not securely conduct a single NEET exam. Since 2017, the question papers of approximately 93 major recruitment and entrance examinations have been leaked across various states in India, deeply demoralizing lakhs of aspiring youths,” Chief Minister Mann stated.
He emphasized that under his administration, an absolute crackdown on corruption, nepotism, and favoritism has ensured that 67,037 government positions have been filled strictly on the basis of merit. Furthermore, the state has cleared a structured pathway to regularize the services of 65,000 contractual employees.
NITI Aayog Ranking: Punjab Claims Top Spot in School Education
Detailing a massive turnaround in primary and secondary education, Chief Minister Mann announced that Punjab has experienced a historic ascent in national benchmarks.
“When our government assumed office, Punjab was languishing at the 27th rank in school education nationally. Today, according to the latest NITI Aayog indices, Punjab has surpassed states like Kerala to become the Number One state in school education across India.” — Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann
To back this structural overhaul, the state has institutionalized international exposure and advanced pedagogical training for its public school leadership:
-
School Principals & Education Officers: Received advanced institutional management training in Singapore.
-
Head Teachers: Completed executive leadership modules at IIM Ahmedabad.
-
Primary School Teachers: Underwent specialized early-childhood foundational training at Turku University in Finland.
Plugging the Brain Drain: Schools of Eminence & Tech Upgrades
The state’s flagship 118 ‘Schools of Eminence’ are now actively reversing the migration trend from public to private schooling. These specialized academies provide underprivileged children with state-of-the-art laboratory infrastructure alongside dedicated, free coaching modules for national-level competitive gateways including JEE, NEET, CLAT, NIFT, and Armed Forces preparatory tracks.
To anchor these educational gains into industrial employment and foster “reverse migration” among Punjabi youth, the government is executing a massive technical education expansion. Work is currently underway to construct 25 brand-new Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), while 13 existing ITIs are undergoing complete technological upgrades to train a workforce capable of handling emerging automation and modern engineering domains.
