The Ministry of External Affairs has officially named senior diplomat Vishwesh Negi as India’s next Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
A 2002-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer presently serving as Joint Secretary in New Delhi, Negi will move to Tehran to head the Indian mission. His appointment comes at a crucial phase for regional geopolitics, with a focus on deepening Indo-Iranian bilateral cooperation, driving Chabahar Port infrastructure operations, and expanding North-South trade corridors.
