MUMBAI — Audio entertainment platform Pocket FM has undergone a major leadership realigment following the high-profile exits of Suyog Gothi, Country Head – India, and Ankit Singh, Assistant Vice President – Content.
The high-level departures coincide with a strategic internal restructuring at the audio-streaming unicorn, which recently decided to shut down its video experiment, the Pocket TV microdrama vertical.
Internal Succession and New Leadership
Gothi, who steered the company’s domestic operations for over two years after a previous leadership stint at fintech major PhonePe, will be succeeded by Nitin Verma as part of an immediate internal succession plan.
Simultaneously, Ankit Singh confirmed his departure as content marketing head via LinkedIn, reflecting on his tenure leading a sizable creative division:
“Thanks to a team of 50+ talented individuals who taught me that the real work of leadership is just making sure the right people can do their best work without getting in their way,” Singh shared.
Strategic Pivot Back to Audio Core
The executive exits follow a turbulent phase of experimentation for the platform. Pocket FM had aggressively expanded into localized, short-form video content under its Pocket TV banner to capture the burgeoning microdrama market in India and the US.
However, the decision to wind down the television vertical indicates a sharp course correction. Under the incoming leadership of Nitin Verma, the entertainment platform is expected to refocus its capital and operational priorities back on its core profitable channels:
-
Audio Series Monetization: Scaling its micro-transaction and pay-per-episode business models across its primary audio library.
-
International Expansion: Solidifying its market penetration in the United States and exploring new global territories for serialized audio fiction.
-
IP Diversification: Leveraging successful audio scripts for licensing and written formats while optimizing operational overheads.
