In a direct letter to Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, Ahmed requested complete exemption from district in-charge responsibilities moving forward. Following the communication, the state government officially removed his name from the newly released list of district in-charge assignments.

In his formal correspondence, Ahmed cited heavy political and organizational commitments as the primary reason for his inability to oversee district operations:

Despite the administrative reasons cited in the letter, internal political sources indicate deep discontent regarding the recent realignment of cabinet portfolios. While Ahmed retained the Housing Department, the high-profile Minorities Welfare and Haj portfolio—previously under his purview—was reassigned to UT Khader.
