KRISHNANAGAR – Prime Minister Narendra Modi intensified the BJP’s campaign for the West Bengal Assembly elections today, announcing a comprehensive 10-point welfare package specifically targeting women and children. Speaking at a massive rally in Krishnanagar, the PM asserted that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) would fail to “open its account” in several districts.
The guarantees come as the state prepares for its second phase of polling on April 29, following the conclusion of the first phase today.
The 10 Guarantees for Women

Direct Cash Transfer: ₹36,000 to be transferred to women’s accounts within the first year.

Graduation Support: ₹50,000 financial assistance for girls completing their graduation.

Maternal Health: ₹21,000 support for pregnant mothers.

Child Nutrition: An additional ₹36,000 dedicated to ensuring better nutrition for children.

Safety Infrastructure: Establishment of a Mahila Thana (women’s police station) in every block.

Police Recruitment: Large-scale recruitment of women into the state police force.

Entrepreneurship: Mudra loans increased up to ₹20 lakh for self-employment.

Lakhpati Didis: Massive support to help lakhs of women achieve financial independence.

Healthcare: Immediate implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme, providing free treatment up to ₹5 lakh.

Home Ownership: Registration of houses under the PM Awas Yojana exclusively in the names of women.
Cracking Down on Corruption
The Prime Minister also reiterated his “six foundational guarantees” previously announced, which include:

Implementing the 7th Pay Commission for state employees and teachers.

Reopening all suppressed files related to corruption and crimes against women.

Strict action against “infiltrators” while ensuring benefits for legal refugees.

Ensuring all corrupt officials and leaders are held accountable and jailed.
“Modi’s guarantee means the guarantee of fulfillment,” the PM told the cheering crowd, positioning the BJP as the only alternative to what he termed the TMC’s “reign of fear.”
The second and final phase of voting is scheduled for April 29, with results for the 2026 Assembly elections expected on May 4.
