CHANDIGARH – In a move highlighting a deepening rift within the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the Punjab government has withdrawn the Z+ category security cover provided to Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha.
According to sources, Punjab Police personnel assigned to the 37-year-old leader have been ordered to report back to headquarters immediately. The decision comes just weeks after a significant shift in Chadha’s standing within his own party.
Escalating Party Tensions
The withdrawal of security follows Chadha’s removal as the AAP’s deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha on April 2.
-
The Accusation: AAP leadership reportedly sidelined Chadha after accusing him of failing to take a hard stance against the Central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, opting instead for what the party termed “soft PR.”
-
The Response: Chadha has dismissed these claims as “lies,” asserting that his focus in Parliament remains on addressing public issues rather than engaging in performative disruptions.
The sudden removal of top-tier security for the high-profile MP suggests that the fallout between Chadha and the party leadership is intensifying, marking a sharp turn for a leader who was once considered a key strategist for the AAP in both Delhi and Punjab.
