KOLKATA — Siddh Nath Gupta (IPS: 1992: WB), Director General and Inspector General of Police (In-charge), West Bengal, is scheduled to retire from service on October 31, 2026.
Gupta, who was appointed as the state police chief by the Election Commission of India (ECI) in March 2026 ahead of the state assembly elections, previously received a six-month tenure extension from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) beyond his original superannuation date of April 30. His upcoming retirement will necessitate a fresh panel selection by the UPSC and the West Bengal government for the top policing post.
