LONDON – Global advertising giant WPP has appointed Mark Taylor as its new Chief People Officer, signaling a strategic move to modernize its workforce operations. Taylor joins from The LEGO Group, where he most recently served as Chief People Advisor.
Leadership Restructuring
Taylor succeeds Marie-Claire Barker, who is transitioning into the newly created role of Chief People Officer, Performance & Culture. This “dual leadership” approach is designed to balance operational efficiency with a focus on creative talent and internal growth.
Mark Taylor’s Background:
-
Previous Role: Chief People Advisor at The LEGO Group.
-
Industry Experience: Held senior HR and leadership positions at Burberry and King (the developer behind Candy Crush).
-
Core Focus: Modernizing WPP’s People function and streamlining career development across its global agencies.
“This powerful leadership combination gives me real confidence in our ability to modernize our People function at pace and make WPP the best place to build a career in our industry,” said WPP CEO Mark Read (quoted as “Rose” in internal communications).
Strategic Impact
The appointment comes at a time when WPP is consolidating its agency brands and placing a heavier emphasis on technology and AI. By bringing in a leader with experience in high-growth tech (King) and iconic retail (Burberry/LEGO), WPP aims to foster a more agile and performance-driven culture across its international network.
