MUMBAI: In a major leadership acquisition, Billboard India—recently launched in a strategic partnership with Other Side Ventures Pvt. Ltd.—has announced the appointment of veteran media executive Preeti Nayyar as its Chief Operating Officer (COO).
With an illustrious career spanning over 25 years across print, radio, television, movie marketing, and the music industry, Nayyar has been brought in to spearhead the iconic global music brand’s operational growth, revenue management, and business expansion in India. As COO, she will oversee business operations, P&L management, strategic corporate partnerships, and crucial industry relations, positioning Billboard India as the definitive bridge connecting artists, brands, and fans.
Nayyar joins Billboard India following a highly successful nine-year tenure at Universal Music Group (UMG), where she built and scaled UMG For Brands—the network’s dedicated culture and music marketing division—from the ground up across India and Asia. Her extensive leadership portfolio also includes senior roles at other global and domestic powerhouses, including Disney, Radio Mirchi, and the India Today Group.
Welcoming her to the leadership team, Priyanka Khimani, the driving force behind establishing Billboard India, said: “I couldn’t be more thrilled to have Preeti take the reins as COO. I’ve watched her quietly build a stellar career across different facets of media. Her knowledge and instincts in navigating brands and revenue partnerships, along with operational insights, is a tremendous asset. She understood the vision for Billboard India from the word go, and the team is delighted to be launching under her leadership.”
Commenting on her new role, Preeti Nayyar stated: “India’s music industry is undergoing a remarkable transformation, with artists, audiences, and businesses contributing to an ecosystem that is more vibrant and influential than ever before. Billboard is one of the most trusted and iconic music brands in the world, and the opportunity to build and grow its India chapter at such a defining moment is incredibly exciting.”
Nayyar’s appointment comes at a crucial juncture for the publication, which recently entered the market to document, chart, and amplify the vast linguistic and regional diversity of Indian music while offering domestic artists an unparalleled global platform.
