NEW DELHI — Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Priyanka Chaturvedi has announced an expansion of her public role, stepping into academia and high-level policy research. While continuing her political career, Chaturvedi has begun teaching at O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) and taken the helm of a new women-centric policy initiative at the Observer Research Foundation (ORF).
Bridging Politics and the Classroom at JGU
Chaturvedi revealed that she has transitioned into a faculty role at O.P. Jindal Global University, completing her first teaching stint during the recent Spring semester. She is scheduled to return to campus to teach upcoming courses for the Fall semester.
Expressing gratitude to JGU Vice-Chancellor Prof. C. Raj Kumar for his institutional support, Chaturvedi emphasized that her move into academia is a deliberate choice to channel her twenty years of political experience into mentoring the next generation of leadership outside of traditional party spaces.
Heading ORF’s ‘Women-Led Futures’ Vertical
In addition to her university role, Chaturvedi has been appointed as the head of the Women-Led Futures vertical at the Observer Research Foundation (ORF).
-
The Vision: The role aims to build directly upon India’s G20 framework of “Women-Led Development,” focusing on institutional reforms, gender parity, and global policy.
-
Alumna Connection: Chaturvedi has a long-standing relationship with the think tank as an alumna of the ORF Asian Forum on Global Governance (AFGG), where she previously studied international affairs under the deanship of Dr. Shashi Tharoor.
Push for Legislative Reforms and Creative Projects
Addressing recent media speculation regarding her diverse career choices, Chaturvedi clarified that she remains active in public life but wants to diversify her national contributions. She confirmed that she has a forthcoming book in the pipeline alongside her ongoing digital content creation.
She also used the announcement to voice strong policy advocacy regarding representation in parliament:
“I remain deeply disappointed that The Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill, 2026, which would have ensured 33% representation for women, was not passed in the extended budget session in April. I continue to hope there is a rethink by all parties. Women deserve nothing less.” — Priyanka Chaturvedi, MP Rajya Sabha
