NEW DELHI: In a series of high-level bureaucratic orders issued on June 1, 2026, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved key personnel changes across multiple Union Ministries. The directives, finalized by the Secretariat of the ACC under the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), detail tenure extensions for two Joint Secretary-level officers, a lateral shift into sports administration, and a premature parent-cadre repatriation.
All notifications were formally signed and authorized by Annies Kanmani Joy, Director at the DoPT.
1. Ram Singh Shifted Laterally to Sports Authority of India (SAI)
The central government cleared a key lateral movement involving an IAS officer from minority affairs to national sports administration:

The Directive: The ACC approved the proposal of the Ministry of Minority Affairs for the curtailment of the central deputation tenure of Shri Ram Singh, IAS (AM:2008).

New Deployment: Singh, who was serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Minority Affairs, has been moved to enable him to join the Department of Sports as Secretary, Sports Authority of India (SAI).

Tenure Structure: His deployment is for an overall central tenure of five years up to May 24, 2027, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
2. Service Extension for Home Affairs Joint Secretary Mahatme Sandeep Namdeo
The government has chosen to retain senior administrative stability within its internal security framework:

The Directive: The ACC cleared a proposal from the Ministry of Home Affairs to extend the central deputation of Shri Mahatme Sandeep Namdeo, IAS (TR:2010).

Current Portfolio: Namdeo continues to serve as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Extension Period: His central deputation tenure has been extended for a period of one year beyond May 9, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
3. Dipti Mohil Chawla Retained in Ministry of Defence
In another significant service extension at the top level, a senior defense accounts officer has seen her central tenure prolonged:

The Directive: The ACC formally approved the central deputation tenure extension of Ms. Dipti Mohil Chawla, IDAS:95.

Current Portfolio: She is presently deployed as the Additional Secretary in the Department of Defence, Ministry of Defence.

Extended Duration: Her central service tenure stands extended for a period of one year beyond May 6, 2026, locking her placement up to May 6, 2027, or until further orders, whichever occurs earlier.
4. Premature Repatriation ordered for Sanjay Chilwarwar
The competent authority has also issued orders sending a senior services officer back to his original structural cadre ahead of schedule:

The Directive: Approval has been granted to the proposal of the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment for the premature repatriation of Shri Sanjay Chilwarwar, IRSSE (1997).

Background: Chilwarwar was serving as Joint Secretary in the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment.

Cadre Return Protocols: He is being sent back to his parent cadre on personal grounds. However, the central clearance comes with the strict imposition of an extended ‘cooling off’ condition.
